Benson named to Defensive All-America Team

ROCHESTER - Oakland University junior Keith Benson was named to the 2010 Lefty Driesell Defensive All-America team by CollegeInsider.com.
Benson finished eighth in the country with 3.3 blocks per game and broke his own single-season school record with 117, third-most in Summit League history. He set a new single-season school record with 367 rebounds, just one shy of matching the all-time league record.

Senior Derick Nelson was named to the Mid-Major Defensive All-America team. Nelson served as Oaklands defensive stopper, holding opposing teams top player in check and finished his career seventh all-time in school history with 141 steals.
The pair led Oakland back to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2005 after winning a Summit League record 17 games en route to a conference tournament championship.
