Center Keith Benson named All-America honorable mention

From staff reports
ROCHESTER — Oakland University’s Keith Benson was named to The Associated Press All-America team honorable mention. Benson, a 6-foot-11 junior center, becomes the second Golden Grizzly to earn All-America honors, joining Mike Helms in 2003.
Benson led the Golden Grizzlies by averaging 17.3 points per game and 10.5 rebounds per game. He broke the single-season school record with 367 rebounds, one shy of The Summit League single-season record. Benson also set a new school record in blocked shots (117), ranked second in free-throw attempts (261) and third in free throws made (189).
A native of Farmington Hills, Benson was named Summit League Player of the Year after leading the conference in double-doubles (18), blocked shots, rebounds and free throws made. He garnered Mid-Major All-America honors by CollegeHoops.net. Benson will make his decision on whether to leave for the NBA or return to school in early May.
