Oakland University's Keith Benson earns final Summit League Player of the Week honor of regular season
Oakland University junior center Keith Benson was tabbed Summit League Player of the Week for the fifth time this season.
Benson (Birmingham Detroit Country Day), a native of Farmington Hills, led the Golden Grizzlies to an 86-83 win over IPFW Saturday night inside the Athletics Center O’Rena. A 6-foot-11 center, Benson scored a career-high 32 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked four shots before fouling out with just under three minutes left in the game.
On the season, Benson has blocked a single-season school record 102 shots and ranks eighth nationally in that department. He has moved into second all-time in league history with 229 blocked shots and leads the league with 16 double-doubles this season.
